|
The ARKO organisation has existed
since 1967 and is one of the oldest active collaborating organisations
across the Norwegian - Swedish border. The organisation consists of 11
Swedish and Norwegian municipalities, and are supported by Nordic Council of
Ministers. The name originates from the two region centres ARvika and
KOngsvinger. The region has 110.000 inhabitants and is uniquely close situated to the most important export markets for both countries. The area is strategically situated on the transport corridor for the Nordic cross line Oslo - Stockholm. For the area, ARKO is working on important issues as communication, business, employment, education and culture. The region is a center for meetings between different groups and development across borders. The aim of the work is to build strong networks and organisations being able to make an independent process of development in the border area - a process beyond the obstacles of a border. Instead, making the border a resource in an area acting as a portal according to the surrounding world. For further information, please contact us:
